What you can do

In short, for parents

  • Free, no ads, no tracking. We don't use advertising or analytics cookies, and we never sell or share information for marketing. We only keep anonymous daily totals (like "movies played today") that can't be linked to anyone.
  • No account needed. Without an account, everything your child makes stays on their own device.
  • Parents hold the account. Only a parent can create an (optional) account, with Google or with an email and password. You can let a child log in on another device with a family code, their face and a PIN; they can only see and save their own progress. We ask for your child's nickname and birth month and year, not their real name.
  • Not a social network. Children can't see, find or contact each other.
  • The AI helper is used only when your child presses a ✦ button or uses the optional chat. Personal details are removed first, and we don't keep copies.
  • You're in control. You can see, download, change or delete your family's data at any time, and withdraw consent.

For kids 🌟

  • Your drawings and stories stay on your device.
  • Never type your real name, school, address or phone number.
  • The helper is a computer program (an AI). It can give ideas, but it can't see you or hear you.
  • If a grown-up gave you a PIN to log in, keep it secret. Don't tell friends.
  • If something worries you, stop and ask a grown-up you trust.

1. Who we are

Star Kids Lab (starkidslab.com) is a free creative learning website for children aged about 6 to 12. Children draw a hero, write stories, make movies, and learn coding and maths. The site is run by Ishtiaq Ahmad, Dubai, United Arab Emirates ("we", "us"). You can contact us at ishtiaq@starkidslab.com.

2. Using Star Kids Lab without an account

Most families never need an account. In that case:

3. The AI helper (Claude, by Anthropic)

Some buttons marked ✦ ask an AI helper for ideas, and a grown-up can switch on an optional chat with the child's hero. The helper is Claude, made by Anthropic, which processes these requests for us as our service provider.

Anthropic's handling of this information is described in Anthropic's privacy policy.

Daily limits. To keep the helper free, we count requests per day using a random ID created on the device (not linked to any person) and the network's IP address. These counters are deleted automatically after 48 hours.

4. Ideas box and votes

5. Optional parent account

A parent or guardian can create an account to keep settings and progress across devices. Only an adult can create an account. A child can only log in to an account their parent set up, with the family code, their face and their PIN (see "Child login" below).

How you sign in

Child login on another device (optional)

It stays off until you choose a face and a 4-number PIN for a child. Then, on another device, a grown-up types your family code, your child taps their face and types their PIN. That device can then read and save only that child's progress. It can't see or change your account, your other children or any settings. After 5 wrong PINs the child's login is locked for 15 minutes (longer if it happens again). You can make a new family code, change the face or PIN, or turn the login off, which logs the child out on every device.

What we store

How we use it

6. Children's privacy and parental consent

7. Who processes information for us

These providers may process information outside the United Arab Emirates. We use them only to run Star Kids Lab and require them to protect the information.
